A Brief History
1901 | First 5 seat board of Water Commissioners |
1902 | Built 300,000 gallon concrete storage tank (still used today) Started installing water lines in Sunapee harbor area and from Ledge pond in Georges Mills |
1902 | Signed contract with manufacturing plant (Globe Wrench) for the purpose of pumping the towns water |
1914 | Installed year round water on Garnet Street |
10/3/1914 | Special town meeting to vote on buying the US Hame Operation Plant for the purpose of pumping water to town |
1926 | Sunapee system added chlorination device at the pumping station |
1931 | Replaced river road pumping station with new brick building (Still in use today) |
1937 | Installed first water meter at River Road pumping station |
1947 | Installed a chlorination system in Georges Mills |
1950 | Increased the water rents to $ 2.00 (This I’m sure cause some users to be unhappy) |
1962 | Employed engineers to determine whether the town should construct gravel packed wells in Georges Mills. (Wells were constructed in 1996) |
1971 | Water & Sewer Department were combined to make one deptartment with a 7 seat Commission |
1972 | Sunapee system built a 700,000 gallon storage tank next to the 300,000 Concrete tank |
1988 | Added corrosion control to Georges Mills & Sunapee system |
1996 | Georges Mills wells went on line. |
1998 | Sunapee's Slow Sand Filter Plant went on line |
1999 | First Consumer Confidence report & News Letter |
